ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Rev. John D. Burkhart is a retired Episcopal priest and former professor of psychology whose life has been shaped by devotion to God and service to others.

Raised on a Kentucky farm, he grew up grounded in humility, integrity, and hard work. His journey led him through:

  • Nine years of seminary study
  • Ordination as a Catholic priest in 1960
  • Pastoral leadership across multiple congregations
  • A Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology from Ohio State University
  • Postdoctoral work at the University of Pennsylvania
  • A pastoral career within the Episcopal Church

His life has included profound personal challenges, divorce, loss, and spiritual renewal, all of which deepened his understanding of God’s mercy, restoration, and unconditional love.

Service Beyond the Pulpit

Rev. Burkhart’s dedication extended far beyond traditional ministry. His work includes:

  • Publishing weekly faith reflections
  • Mission work in Haiti
  • Leadership as District Governor of Rotary International
  • Years of counseling, teaching, and community service
  • Devoted involvement in ecumenical worship

Today, he remains committed to prayer, writing, and daily devotion with joyful anticipation of eternal life.
